The Salmon Arm Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with SASCU, is hosting a five-part workshop series designed to support the leaders who support our community.
These practical sessions are open to board members, executive directors, staff, and anyone involved in non-profit leadership who would like to strengthen their knowledge of governance, financial oversight, and long-term sustainability.

Serving on a non-profit board comes with important legal and ethical responsibilities. This session will provide a clear overview of directorsβ duties, including fiduciary responsibility, duty of care, and duty of loyalty. Participants will learn about potential liabilities, risk management, and best practices to ensure compliance while supporting the organization effectively. Whether youβre new to a board or looking for a refresher, this session will help you feel confident in your role and decision-making. Financial literacy is a critical part of good governance. In this hands-on session, youβll learn how to read and interpret key financial documents, including balance sheets and income statements. Weβll walk through real-world examples and highlight what to look for, what questions to ask, and how to spot potential concerns. By the end, youβll feel more confident participating in financial discussions and contributing to informed, responsible decision-making at the board table.
